Keyboardist Mike Sereny is the co-founder of Groove United. Along with
his brother, chart-topping Dave Sereny, the two Toronto natives are
setting the Canadian landscape on fire with new indie music.
Brothers Sereny began playing music together around the ages of five and seven. Although neither brother will admit who is the oldest, Mike is quick to point out, “We don’t get along any better than on-stage. I wish were on-stage more often.” Both have passion and understand deeply the freedom of music that it affords the player and audience.
The song writing half of the dynamic duo, Mike brings a sense of contrasting rhythms and passion to the music. His hard-driving keyboards also ignite a fire within the artistry that melds intangible energy between the brothers.
Mike has recorded and toured with the likes of Kenward Denard (Jaco Pastorius) and Dutch Robinson, along with the Brazilian band, DA. Currently, he is in the studio working on his first solo album that is scheduled to be released August 2009. The vibe of the album will be the ethereal side of instrumental groove. Anyone that has witnessed Mike Sereny live knows just what this cat means by the word “groove.” Fasten your seat belts. You’re in for one wild ride.
